Young Cambs Has Got Talent is running again, with qualifying heats taking place in February and March 2014 at Ely, March, Cambourne, St. Ives and Cambridge. All of these heats take place prior to the final which is at Commemoration Hall in Huntingdon on the 29th March. We’ve changed! Smaller, but still focused Every organisation has felt the pressure from the global recession. As the availability of public funding has diminished Young Lives has had to say goodbye to many staff that have helped build the organisation in to one of the leading charities in Cambridgeshire. We them for all of their support and wish them well in the future. We have a new CEO Paul Crosbie has joined Young Lives as its new CEO to lead the organisation through a new and exciting period. Whilst the current economic climate is challenging, Paul and his team remain committed to its goal of making Young Lives the best children’s charity in Cambridgeshire. Children in Need Young Lives is delighted that Children in Need have extended the funding of our hospital project to 2016. “Get Creative on the Ward” has come in to contact with many brave and amazing young people at both Addenbrookes and Kettering General Hospitals since its launch back in 2010. Children and Young People are our priority Young Lives will continue to place children at the centre of its mission, strategies and day-to-day activities. Whilst continuing with many of the great things that we do, we will also be exploring many new ways to support and develop Young People, including our new concept “Young Lives Online”. Expanded services Members Members will be offered a wide and updated range of new services whilst still having access to the current range of DBS and Training services at a discounted rate. The new range of services includes, but is not limited to, social media support, promotional film making services, web site design and support services and a new range of digital training services. Again members will benefit from a discount on all services.
Young Lives Online What is it? Our new online service, “Young Lives Online” will provide children and young people with a wide range of online services, competitions, news, information and opportunities to have fun and connect with their future. Take a look through some of the things below that have already started. Photography competitions Our first four photography competitions have been launched below. With a category for every young person’s taste, you can pick “Urban”, “Feet”, “Need for Speed” or “K-9″. Entries are allowed from anybody up to age 25, whether using a camera, mobile phone or mobile phone app such as Hipstamatic or Instagram. Full instructions on how to join are included, and all entries will be featured on our Facebook page. YCGT 2014 Yes Young Cambridgeshire’s Got Talent is back, and once again Young Lives has been asked by Cambridgeshire County Council to organise next year’s event – however, there will be a new and exciting twist coming. So keep watching this page, and our announcements via Twitter and Facebook to find out what will be new in 2014!
